Spinning for tuna | Drift fishing for tuna

big game fishing in croatia

With the spinning rod for bluefin tuna - a fantastic experience! Experience the moment when a swarm of tuna breaks through the surface of the water in a feeding frenzy, a tuna attacks your spinning lure in front of your eyes and after a successful strike the fish makes your spinning reel screaming.

In spring, a lot of feed fish is concentrated off the coast of Istria and due to the shallow water depth of only 40m on average, schools of tuna drive their prey fish to the surface and form large feeding frencies - a special position of Istria compared to other destinations.

Bluefin tuna can be caught almost all year round off Istria. Drift fishing with natural bait is by far the most successful technique for catching bluefins in the Adriatic. The fish are attracted to the boat by chunking and chumming. This method brings the best results all year round. Only in June the bluefin tunas leave the Adriatic to congregate in the spawning areas. At the beginning of July, after this exhausting journey, the fish return to the north of the Adriatic to eat themselves fat on the large stocks of sardines. A large number of sardine trawlers operate here, which use powerful reflectors to attract plankton and thereby swarms of sardines. This also attracts the tuna.

Giant tuna fishing

Autumn is the time of the Giants. Large schools of sardines are then concentrated on site and with you large schools of tuna, including the very large ones. Fish weighing over 200kg are caught here every year.

But it doesn't always have to be the really big ones. Fishing for the colorful range of tasty, portion-sized bream is a lot of fun and the catch prepared in the evening is a double pleasure! No matter whether bottom fishing on the edge of a reef, jigging on a wreck, light tackle spinning or live bait trolling - Alexander brings you successfully to the fish.

Fishing area

rovinj

The region of Istria in northern Croatia can be reached quickly due to its proximity to neighboring European countries and the good infrastructure and is therefore predestined for a holiday in Croatia.

pula-croatia

Crystal clear water, dreamy bathing bays, picturesque coastal towns, historical sights and unspoilt nature make Istria one of the most popular holiday regions in Croatia, not only because of the large tuna fish.

Our base is in Pula. Due to the strategic location in the south of Istria, we fish depending on where the tuna are on the east, south or west side of the peninsula and relocate our boat accordingly.
